International A26 Engine

Project Alpha. The name alone evokes images of rocket scientists building an awesomely powerful device. But instead of building an engine for the launch pad, Project Alpha has built it for your long-haul truck. This new engine, designed by a team of the industry's best powertrain-engineers, is called the International® A26.

International® has a reputation for dependable and powerful machines, but the A26 sets the bar even higher, according to Bill Kozek, president of Truck and Parts.

"Project Alpha has fundamentally changed how we design diesel engines. The International A26 has been designed to address the rigorous demands of Class 8 truck customers. It's been tested to extremes and meets a demanding B10 design life standard for an unprecedented 1.2 million miles," says Kozek.

Built from the Block Up

Based on the MAN D26 engine platform, then perfected for the North American market. Though just released in late February 2017, the A26 is no greenhorn. International® has logged millions of real-world test miles in some of the most difficult roads on the continent, including at extreme cold and high elevation. Plus, the A26 includes the industry's best warranty with two years, unlimited miles.

Uptime

Oil change service intervals increased to 70,000 miles.

Weight

At 2,299lbs, it's the lightest engine in its class. Weighing in 55 lbs. lighter than its predecessor and allowing for the reduction of 200 lbs. of vehicle-mounted component weight, the A26 rides like a featherweight but punches like a heavyweight champ, all with less fuel consumption and emissions.

Noise

The A26's uniquely sculpted crankcase, which is isolated from the oil pan through a specially designed rubber gasket absorbs vibration and reduces harshness for a quieter in-cab experience
